PSCHE

Introduction

Personal, Social, Citizenship and Health Education (PSHCE) is an integral part of the curriculum and is designed to prepare students for the constantly changing pressures faced within a modern society. There is a focus on promoting social inclusion and reducing health inequalities, with particular concerns about children and young people’s mental health, alcohol and substance abuse, rates of teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, bullying in schools and developing a thirst for learning.

The PSCHE programme addresses a number of areas throughout the students’ time in the Academy to allow them to be successful in life. The programme aims to bring together the development of the whole person, developing confidence, and ultimately success, in young people.

Some of the topics are taught across a number of years like Careers so that students have the opportunity to visit post-16 providers, employers and a University and look at all of the choices available to them before making decisions in later years.
